I first had this last week at Sophie’s in Shrewsbury.
I enjoyed it without taking too much notice of it, and sometimes that’s the mark of a good beer.
You can sit back, drink and enjoy without the need to over analyse, which is exactly what I did the other day.
But now, in the comfort of my front room with records on it the background, I can take my time and think about what I’m drinking.
And you know what?
This is a beer to not think about too much.
Fill & Avoid is a heavily hopped Saison, a beer that does exactly what you’d expect.
Lots of fresh and tingly herbal zesty hops, all lemon sherbet, lime pith and grapefruit, a soft caramel brioche malt body and that Saison yeast thing that brings a warm hug of earthy, spicy farmyards.
Fill & Avoid is very good indeed, because it is exactly what you’d imagine an India Saison to be on paper.
