This is a great big lemon curd delight of a beer.
Sure there’s some pine resin and a slap of green herbal leaves wrapped around the edges, but mainly this is like a lemon meringue pie with booze.
And that is a very good thing.
The malting is soft and chewy, sweet with spun sugar and egg whites, caramel and shortcake biscuits, and the aroma is a blast of sherbet lemons.
But between the Oats and the alcohol, the Simcoe hops are tamed and restrained in a really lovely way, bringing out a soft creamy lemon flavour that makes the finish feel sexily gentle rather than long and bitter.
Lovely stuff.
