This is Alefarm’s Dry Hopped Saison, and it’s really rather good.
Pouring with a soft farmyard silage and apricot jam aroma, the beer, as is becoming the norm for every style of beer it seems, sits a thick cloudy orange in my glass.
There’s a soft wheaty, oaty body, creamy and smooth, the barley bringing biscuits and honey to what might otherwise be a little porridgey.
The Saison yeast is warm and earthy, adding a spiced fruitiness to the background of the beer while the hops are sharp and green, nettle stings and metallic herbal leaves, lemon zest, mandarin and lime pith bring a dry bitter hit to the finish.
