This is a Chocolate Cherry Stout and it does everything it promises very well.
Pouring a deep mahogany with a fuzzy little head, the smell is red fruit and chocolate, and taking a swig that’s what you find in every corner of the beer.
Lots of dry and rich, bitter dark chocolate, chewy and tongue coating, round and satisfying, and a big hit of lightly tart red cherry flesh that makes the end of the beer sharp and bright.
It’s very good, but personally I think it could be improved by a little more alcohol heat, adding a warm brown sugar kiss to the finish that would offset the sharpness of the fruit.
But then I’m just a sucker for booze?
