Devil’s Elbow is a West Coast IPA brewed in New Zealand by a Brewer, a Waiter and a Chef.
Most importantly, it’s a damned fine example of its style.
It pours a rich golden colour and has a resinous piney aroma.
Taking a swig you find lots of creamy caramel and waffles, honey and bagels from the malts before you’re hit with the sticky redwood sap, lemon zest and grapefruit pith, orange marmalade and pine needles of the hops.
All of this makes for a big fresh beer with a long bitter finish.
Lovely stuff.
