Dubbed a Sultry Dark Ale, this is for want of an argument a very good Black IPA.
It pours a deep purple black and smells of molasses and black cherries.
The malting is thick and round and rich, all black coffee and treacle tart, honey, toffee, and pancakes covered in caramel, toast and rich fruit cake packed with slightly burned raisins.
And then there’s the hops.
Orange marmalade, lemon zest and lime leaves, rolling tobacco and pithy green herbal leaves drive the beer towards a superbly bitter and dry finish.
