Donzoko Brewing Co. Northern Helles (4.2%)

Donzoko’s flagship Lager, Northern Helles, is a beer of absolute joy.
Kicking off with a lime prickled garden flower and honey aroma, you quickly find a smooth and creamy malt body, all wafers and waffles, toffee and buttery caramel.
There’s a little pinch of earthy yeast to add a warmth to the back of the beer, while the hops give you all the hedgerow pithiness, spicy herbal leaves, lemon rind and nettles that you want from a Lager.
But what raises this beer above many other examples of its type is a gentle addition of New Zealand hops that bring a bright zing to the crisp refreshing finish.
