Kees seems to be one of those breweries that makes very few mistakes, seems to get things right every time.
Here’s a case in point.
They have decided to take their already brilliant Caramel Fudge Stout and age it in Tequila Barrels.
The result is a big round beer that is thick and chewy, packed with coffee and chocolate, prunes, treacle tart, flaky pastry, vanilla, rum and raisins.
It’s a weighty beer, a beer to take your time over, to ponder, to enjoy slowly in a dimly lit room, and the ageing in Tequila barrels adds a lightly piquant fresh green boozy snap, a tang of something bright and fresh in the finish that makes you reach for another swig only to find your brains turning to mush.
