Another of Pentrich’s Anniversary Beers, this Imperial Stout has been brewed in collaboration with Flathead Brewery.
It’s a treacle tart, coffee and toffee heavy beer, sticky and chewy, rich and deep, the malting seems to go on for miles.
There’s molasses and honey, rum and raisin chocolate, the hint of smoky bonfires and lots of maple syrup, while the hopping adds a hint of autumnal crunchy leaf litter.
The plum compote of the aroma pops up towards the finish, blended with liquorice root and brandy booze as you head towards delicious oblivion.
