The Krafty Braumeister Dunkelweizen (4.8%)

Having just won a Great Taste Award, I felt I really needed to try this beer.
And I’m so very glad that I have, because it is absolutely terrific and well worthy of its prize.
Brewed with oak smoked barley, there is a depth of flavour I’d expect from a much weightier beer.
Thick and chewy, the malting is nutty, woody, with smokey coffee, cinder toffee and bitter chocolate, while the aroma of Maltesers and pipe tobacco drifts up from your glass.
The hopping is sharp and bitter, green herbal leaves and lemon tea, hedgerow and sapling wood, making for a bitterness that leaps up from the beer’s warm smooth body.
Simply super.
